Julianne Hough arrives at the premiere of Sony Pictures' "This Is It" held at Nokia Theatre Downtown LA on October 27, 2009 in Los Angeles, California.
這場災難許多公司紛紛倒地(in over their head),其中以雷曼兄弟為最,不過也有人逃過一劫,還逆勢成長(playing over their head),高盛(Golden Sachs)就是箇中佼佼者。
例:“When others were all in over their heads in this crisis, they started last year playing over their heads and are currently leading the score board.”「其他公司中箭落馬,去年他們卻愈戰愈勇,領先群雄。」
(Get'er done.)
例:“After a month of keeping his nose to the grindstone, he finally gets away for that award he has dreamed about.”「一個月不眠不休埋頭苦幹,他終於拿下夢寐以求的首獎。」
“When the crisis came, he went through the motions of working, without feeling much of anything.”「
(You have to get people to want to work with you and want to help you. )大家肝膽相照,自然生死與共,危難在所不辭(go the whole nine yards),而不必專做表面工作(face time),事事交差了事。
例:“The challenge was terrible but I wanted to go the whole nine yards and get'er done.”「挑戰的確艱難,不過,我還是奮力一搏,誓死達成任務。」
“Maris was at work until 2 am last night reading facebook.com. That was some serious face time.”「Maria在辦公室待到晚上兩點,看似很忙,其實在上網打發時間。」 鼓舞部屬全心全力投入工作,在「有福同享」(spread the wealth),不能只踩著別人的身子往上爬(climb on the backs of others)。
例:“When you are doing well you make sure that those who have helped you get some of the profit also. When you spread the wealth around, it's good for the band of brothers.”「好光景來了,不要忘記打天下的老戰友,是謂有福同享。」
“The corporate ladder climbers try to ride up and don't care about anyone else. They climb on the backs of others, using others’hard work and stealing their ideas to get themselves ahead.”「爭功諉過,一心往上爬,這種小人每個公司都有。」
